Xbox responds to console crash issue while playing NBA 2K22, Madden 22 or FIFA 22

Sep-28-2021 PST

There are sometimes all sorts of problems with game consoles, and the latest impressive Xbox consoles crash when playing NBA 2K22(need MT Coins, click here), Madden 22, or FIFA 22 is definitely one of the weirdest. This latest console bug is weird because it seems to only affect sports and not everyone in the same company, and the NBA release date is a few weeks ago. This has been happening for some time and still seems to be causing problems for some gamers as they try to play these games, but the Xbox is still clearly working to fix it.

What is the console crash problem in the NBA, Madden and FIFA?

While it has been a problem for a few weeks on the Xbox, there have been more indications recently of console crashes from people experiencing major problems while trying to play NBA 2K22 on the Xbox Series X or S, as we previously reported a couple of weeks ago.

When trying to load NBA 2K22 devices into the Xbox Series X / S, many people experienced a system crash and then a message that the console was designed to shut down automatically due to poor ventilation. However, apparently, there are no real ventilation problems for players who use the console, and rather some kind of fault that triggers it.

NBA 2K22 was also not the only game that had problems, as other people recently started publishing that they got the same message when trying to play Madden 22 and FIFA 22 as well, and the latter is only available on EA Play 10 Free Hours.

It’s even more interesting because now 2K Sports and two EA Sports games have led to this mistake, and they’re also a sport.

How does the Xbox react?

Xbox Support is definitely one of the best companies in the industry for solving problems with their consoles, and this is another example of that. After preliminary reports of NBA 2K22 Xbox console crash issues, they posted the following information on Xbox support on Twitter and follow-up just yesterday.

Now, a few days later, this still seems to be an issue, according to the Xbox status page, which still has a list of the NBA 2K22 issue, but says it's close to fixing. Another interesting thing is that Dexerto reported that they had a follow-up tweet that said they were investigating the problems of Madden 22 and FIFA 22, as also mentioned above, but for some reason, the tweet has been completely removed.

Is there a temporary fix for NBA 2K22?

At this stage, there is no formal interim solution from Microsoft. Instead, they say stay tuned for more information. However, as we mentioned in our original post about the crash, YouTuber Nvad3 offered a temporary fix by holding down the d-pad button until you download to City when you try to download MyCareer.

This is apparently because there is something on the map that causes the game to crash, so canceling it before it first appears can help prevent it. Opening the map after an accident can cause an accident, so avoid it for now.

This is of course only a temporary fix, so hopefully, the Xbox 2 console that crashed with NBA 2K22 and Madden 22 and FIFA 22 will have a more official fix. Fans have now been waiting a few weeks after its debut, so this should happen sooner rather than later, especially if it already affects multiple games now.
